CE+T Group has obtained the Gold label in recognition of retaining the Best Managed Companies label for four consecutive years. Each year, the Best Managed Companies programme rigorously evaluates and challenges organisations’ strategy and operational management against a proven global framework based on four pillars: a clear long-term strategy, extensive capabilities, strong commitment, and excellent financial performance. After a challenging year, resilience, leadership and agility have been particularly acknowledged by the independent jury.
Robert Eyben, CEO of CE+T Group, holding the Gold label received during the digital Best Managed Companies ceremony organized by Deloitte Belgium.
A word from our CEO
“We are honoured to bear the gold label and remain part of the community of Belgian private companies. Being recognised as Best Managed Company four times in a row confirms that we have strong assets to steer through challenging times, support the economic growth and embrace the world of tomorrow.” says Robert Eyben.
About Best Managed Companies
In 2017 Deloitte Private launched Belgium Best Managed Companies in collaboration with Econopolis, joined by KU Leuven in 2019. The programme aims to provide guidance and recognition for Belgian privately owned and managed companies that achieve excellent results.
The globally proven framework is used to assess their leadership qualities and practices in the areas of strategy, capabilities, commitment, and financial performance. Companies wishing to participate in the programme must have a turnover exceeding €10 million. They must have been established for at least five years, with more than 25 full-time employees and a majority stake (> 60%) owned by a Belgian resident, person or entity. The company’s HQ or a major decision centre must be located in Belgium and they must be fully compliant from a legal, tax and ethical perspective.
The Best Managed Companies label is intended to become an international label denoting quality and excellence. The programme was developed 28 years ago in Canada and has been rolled out in the meantime over 35 countries worldwide.
Since the 60’s, CE+T Power is specialised in the electrical power back up for critical applications. Located in Wandre (near Liège), the company has a turnover of more than 40 million euros and employs 275 people worldwide. The company has built its international reputation over the years, notably due to the winning of the Little Box Challenge organised by Google in 2016 (with an award of 1 million US$) and the label “Best Managed Companies” by Deloitte four years in a row since 2018.
CE+T Group is a multinational conglomerate of companies that creates, through an efficient and collaborative environment, advanced solutions to ensure peace of mind of its customers and the future of our planet. CE+T Power and its subsidiaries in America, India and China are part of the CE+T Group. CE+T Group then diversified itself by creating CE+T Energrid and CE+T Telecommunications, and by acquiring various companies such as Alpha Innovations, GAI, Gertek, Jema and Serel.
After working 5 years for CE+T Power, Francis decided to take his bike and travel in Africa from Cairo to Cape Town. Today, as the COVID-19 forced him to stop his journey in Tanzania, he is back in Belgium and has taken the challenge to work for CE+T Energrid. Who is he? Let’s find out!
What is exciting about CE+T Energrid?
Renewable energy is an area that has long interested me. When I came back from Africa, I had a discussion with Sam and I was very impressed with what CE+T Energrid has developed. When I was working for CE+T Power, I saw many opportunities in this field. Today, with Energrid's products, these opportunities have become a reality.
My role at CE+T Energrid is…
My main focus will be on sales and projects in Europe. My role is to offer customers the most suitable solutions that support them in their energy transition. I will also develop ways to easily collaborate with our colleagues in the CE+T Group who are located all over the world.
What are your challenges?
I already know the CE+T power products but I need to learn more about new products like the Stabiliti. There are a lot of opportunities that I have to be able to seize, study and make offers. The challenge is time, to be able to make offers in time, so the customers do not have to wait too long. In the longer term, I would like to offer standard solutions as well as solutions in outdoor containers that I would like to develop, not alone of course, but with the CE+T team.
What are your hobbies?
I like to travel and do sports. I travel as much as possible; I have been to Africa and Asia a lot. The combination of travelling and biking in Africa was perfect! I started from Cairo with my bike and my goal was to arrive in Cape Town but I had to stop in Tanzania due to COVID-19.
If you had to recommend a book, which one will it be?
I have really appreciated books written by Yuval Noah Harar: Sapiens A Brief History of Humankind and Homo Deus. The message is quite positive: with today's world news you might think that the world is going badly, but if you look at the numbers, the number of people dying from hunger, violence and disease has never been so low as it is now. He also speaks about our future and the influence of artificial intelligence and microbiology.
My favorite quote is…
In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity…(Albert Einstein)
Unfortunately, it must be seen that the COVID-19 is still there in Europe, including in Belgium. The Belgian government has just decided to carry out a second confinement in our country. I’d like to take this opportunity to inform you we continue to offer the levels of service that you expect from the CE+T Group companies.
Our primary concern continues to be the health and safety of colleagues and their families, customers, our business partners and the local communities. For this reason, all the measures we could take are now in place, including working from home when possible, physical distancing in our factories and digital appointments are now the norm.
As our business is essential to keep our customers running smoothly, our installation team continues to operate but does so in a “COVID-19 Safe Mode” to keep everyone safe. Of course, our partners around the world have been invited to do the same.
As you will appreciate, your business continuity remains our concern. With all these efforts and measures strictly followed by everyone in the CE+T Group, we can continue our operation while guaranteeing everyone’s safety.
Therefore, we keep our customer service, engineering, manufacturing and account management fully operational during this time of crisis. Please reach your usual contact within the CE+T Group if you have a need for products or support in the coming days and weeks. All orders already taken will be delivered and we will be happy to accommodate any new orders you may have to ensure your business continuity, as we usually do.
In over 80 years of operations, CE+T has faced many challenges and we have always emerged stronger, we will overcome this challenging time as well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty and to confirm that the teams at CE+T Power, CE+T Energy Solutions, JEMA, Alpha Innovations, Serel and CE+T Energrid continue to offer you our support.
My very best wishes to you and your families.
Robert Eyben, CE+T Group CEO
After graduating as electrical engineer, Héloïse worked for the Belgian government in Rwanda for a rural electrification project. She then joined the CE+T Energrid’s team as Energy Management System Engineer. She is positive about the impact this company and her job can have on our planet. Who is she? Let’s find out!
What do you like about CE+T Energrid?
I really appreciate the fact that this company and this job are in line with my values. Indeed, we work mainly with renewable energies and we focus on solutions to preserve the planet and I think it’s important.
Moreover, I think the Orison project is very interesting because it would “empower” energy consumers and allow them to make smarter and greener decisions.
My role at CE+T Energrid is…
Understand Energrid products well enough to be able to suggest the right one according to customer requests and, if necessary, make some changes to make it fit perfectly. Then there is the follow-up: making sure that there are no problems and providing technical support if necessary.
What is exciting about your job here is…
I like my work because it is not only technical, there is also a contact with the customer. We meet the customers and find with them the solution adapted to their needs. Understanding what people want and finding a solution is important to me and that's what Sam and the team were looking for, so it was perfect!
What are your hobbies?
I like to travel as I went to Rwanda but in my future travels, I would like to use alternative means of transport and avoid the plane as much as possible. I also spend a lot of time with my friends and family.
If you had to recommend a book, which one will it be?
Harry Potter is a must-have, timeless, one of my favorites. I started to read my first Harry Potter book at 10 years old and I still appreciate it.
Who is your favorite artist?
I really appreciate Gaël Faye, a French-Rwandan writer and musician. He wrote a book called Petit Pays (Small Country), an autobiographical tale of his life as child in Rwanda during the genocide. His book has been adapted to a film and I will definitely go see it.
My state of mind is…
« The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new. »Socrate
I try to look at things in a positive way, to see the positive sides, even if sometimes there aren't many in a day, it's important to stay motivated.
